The introduction
The first time you open a map you can edit, a short introduction walks you through getting the most out of it. Four steps, once per map, and viewers never see it.
It exists because the best parts of the app rely on two things you have to opt into: EVE permissions and location sharing. The introduction gathers them up front so the map works properly from the start, rather than leaving you to find out later why nothing is moving.
The four steps
- Welcome to the map — what the next three steps are going to ask for.
- Grant permissions — the EVE scopes that unlock the live features, each with a one-click grant. They are all optional: the map works without them, you just lose the live parts. For what each one does, see Connecting your character.
- Choose what it does — how much of the mapping you want done for you: whether your location is shared, and whether jumping a hole asks you which signature it was.
- Ready to fly — where everything ended up, so you can see what you turned on.
Nothing here is a one-time decision. Everything the introduction offers can be changed afterwards from the map's settings, so skipping it only means turning things on yourself when you want them.
